Update 2021-05-12 - Updated Intellij to latest version 2021.1.1 and it looks like this problem is solved. I also had problems using log in static block and it’s also fixed.
Today I had some serious problems with my Intellij installation. It all started after updating to the current latest patch 2020.3.2 and I could no longer build my project inside Intellij. I had no problem building it from the command line with maven but in the ide, it refused to build.

This is the second part of a two part series about Testcontainers. In this part I will among other things show you some tricks to get your Testcontainers start much faster.
Intro In the previous blog post, Getting Started with Testcontainers, I described what the Testcontainers framework is and how to get started using it in your project. After using Testcontainers for a long time I learned that there are things that need to be adjusted to make it even better and faster.

This is the first part of a two-part series about Testcontainers. In this first part I will explain what it is, what problems it tries to solve, how it works and finally how you can use it in your own projects. In the second part we will see if we can reduce startup time for our Testcontainers.
Introduction Earlier this spring I held a skills meeting for my colleagues that was about JUnit 5 and Testcontainers.

Intro For many years I’ve been using an excellent little gem called Hyperswitch. From time to time I have had problems with it, suddenly it just stopped working and I have never found out what the reason really was. I have Googled for it and tried all sorts of things but nothing has worked and suddenly it has started to work again.

Installation To be able to sign our git commits on Macos we have to install gnupg and pinentry-mac. When installing gnupg a pinentry is provided but we want to use a pinentry that is specific för MacOS so we can use the Key-chain to store our Passphrase.
First install gnupg, later on we will install pinentry-mac too.
$ brew install gnupg Generate a key First we have to generate a key that we will use.

I am a long time user of Zsh but I also use Bash now and then but mostly when running bash scripts. The other day when upgrading SdkMan it complained that I was using an old version of bash. I have to admit that I have used the default bash installation in MacOS. What I didn’t know was that Apple will not update Bash, because the latest version is licensed under GPLv3, which Apple cannot use.

👉 Important Update 2022-07-08 A reader informed me that the reported memory size was incorrect. I know that the numbers were correct when I wrote the blog post so I had to check this out and see why it differs. It turned out that cgroup v2 was enabled in Docker engine 20.10 (also Docker Desktop for Mac v4.2.0). This means that docker no longer uses cgroups v1 and has switched to using cgroups v2, like all modern Linux distributions.

In my current project our application is built with Spring and we are using a couple of Spring profiles. Unfortunately we didn’t make them unique so if we deploy it with another application in the same application server we might get a name clash. We decided that we better try to use names that are specific for our application. So I started renaming all of our spring profiles by just adding the prefix apigw.

Today I updated my ADP1 to Android 1.6. I flashed the device using an updated recovery image (read more). The process is simple, this is how I did it.
First we need to download the radio image and the recovery image from HTC. After the files are downloaded it’s time start the update. This is a two step process, first we will install the radio image and then the recovery image.

After a while I saw the following error message “Warning: htmlspecialchars_decode() expects parameter 1 to be string”.

Hi folks
I have updated this blog server to the latest version (wordpress mu 2.7.1). It all went well and this time I decided to use the wordpress built in updater. First I did a full backup of all folders and the wordpress database (just in case ;-)). Then all I had to do was to press the update button. Done!!! I’m impressed, kudos to all you wordpress developers.
I also updated all plugins that was installed except for the LightBox 2 plugin.

Google Moderator – Google Moderator makes it easy to gather and prioritize questions or opinions on any topic from a group of people. Google Short Links – Google Short Links allows users to easily create descriptive shortcuts to web URLs.

A few days ago I upgraded my WordPress MU installation. It all went smoothly with no problems at all. Thank you guys at WordPress for doing such a great software.
I’m hosting my site at Lunarpages and since it is a shared server you can’t use ssh, so I had to use FTP and cPanel when upgrading.
Ok, this is how I upgraded wpmu from 1.2.5 to 1.3.
I know that this step isn’t always my first choice but I thought that I would try it anyway, RTFM.

Since I changed from Windos to Linux Ubuntu I don’t have all of my dev tools installed. One of those tools is the great universal database tool called DbVis from Minq. Minq doesn’t deliver DbVis as synapt package so I had to find a alternative and since I’m not a Linux blackbelt I had to do some googling. I found this blog and this and this that gave me a hint of what to do.

I wanted to install a blogging software that everyone in the family could use. Lunarpages has the Fantastico package that contains the WordPress software. Unfortunately this is the single -user version of WordPress and I wanted each and every family member to have their own blog e.g. http://blogs.merikan.com/.
This how I did it.
Create a subdomain named blogs (blogs.yourdomain.com) Create database wpmu Create db user wpmu and add the user to the database Download the wpmu tar file and extract it on the desktop Now upload the exploded tar file to the root directory of the newly created subdomain named blogs (/www/blogs/) Run the WordPress MU installation script by accessing http://blogs.
